You Are The Electric Company You Keep

You Are The Electric Company You Keep

You walked into the bar
With a disco ball
Stuffed down the front of your dress

You asked me for a light
So I shined a flashlight on your chest
The room filled with a thousand
Silvery Angels
Dancing on the edge
Of a coke razor

You sighed
And it filled my ears
With blood and the hissing
Of hi-hats

I asked you for the time
And you tapped out
Four-on-the-floor

I couldn’t keep time
So I went home swaying alone
Wishing I was the spoon
Under the moon’s nose
As I saw you get into a cab
with two kicks drums,
One cowbell player
And a handful of falsettos
Looking to broaden their range
